With the goal of highlighting the 10-year milestone of WSK: Festival of the Recently Possible, the Philippines’ first and longest-running music, arts and technology festival, the event posters were created using a bold, flexible, and creative solution: “X” as the central element. X, the Roman numeral for 10, is depicted dynamically, with static and fragmented treatments, illustrating the festival’s multi-faceted and ever-evolving nature. The main element, which occupies 80-90% of each artwork, is meant to draw attention to the decade-long celebration, through a depiction that is catchy, intriguing and significant.
X, in its fragmented form, is captured from a self-developed coding script, and is a direct visualisation of the festival’s main title, “WSK” (the disemvoweled version of the Filipino word “wasak”, which means “shattered” or “broken” when translated).
